Weather hits thanksgiving service

There were fewer people than usual at this year’s annual pre-cyclone season thanksgiving service at the National Auditorium on Sunday night – and the reason was the weather.

The 2018 Vaevae Revival walk, launched at the Punanga Nui market on Thursday afternoon, was a success, with a large number of people of all ages – not to mention the odd dog or three, turning up to participate in the first challenge for the year.

The new Association of Retired MPs (RMP) is unhappy at the way in which former MPs and a former Queen’s Representative were treated at the opening of parliament at the National Auditorium last month.

The combined prayer service held annually before the start of the cyclone season in the Cook Islands will take place at the National Auditorium on October 28.
