Agriculture co-ordinator visits

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) sub-regional co-ordinator for the Asia Pacific Eriko Hibi was in the country last week to discuss further partnership engagements with the Cook Islands.

 

Assistant minister for agriculture Patrick Arioka and the head of ministry Temarama Anguna met with Hibi to discuss agriculture achievements under the FAO programme to the Cook Islands.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the meeting focused on looking towards more partnership engagement on new developments around food security and nutrition, education nutrition and policy development formation and implementation.

A statement from the ministry showed that the discussion outcome was very fruitful the ministry looked forward to more collaboration with FAO on new programmes for the Cook Islands agriculture sector which is guided under Cook Islands development policy and strategy focus towards 2021.

Meanwhile, Arioka shared with Hibi the Minister for Agriculture Rose Brown’s best wishes on her mission to the Cook Islands and gifted a book on Cook Islands photos.
