Marlin Queen Fishing Charters has added another vessel to its fleet – the 6.45metre Popeye.

The vessel, which was brought up to Rarotonga from New Zealand, is expected to become operational from Monday.

It can carry a party of five, along with the captain, and will join its sister vessels the Marlin Queen and Strike Time. The Marlin Queen is a 25-foot Bertram 25 and Strike Time is a 6.75m Senator.

The Popeye was blessed by Reverend Tamaiti Vai Taengauru at a pre-launch ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

Marlin Queen’s owner, Nobby Clark, said it was the first time he had a boat blessed and he was deeply moved by the experience.
