With eyes wide open in wander and delight – Rarotonga school children were treated to the first of a number of school holiday programme developed by Turama Pacific Travel Group.
Local children experiencing the new initiative by the largest inbound tourism company are being inspired and kept on their toes during the bus tour around the island that includes a number of stops at key points of interest.
The school holiday programme ticks several boxes for the inbound tourism company that was dramatically impacted by travel restrictions caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The main aim was to use the wide range of skills and resources the company has, share the company’s community and environmental sustainability goals with each child on tour receiving a reusable water bottle, showcasing the wide range of career options here at home and giving parents a new option to keep the kids engaged these school holidays.
After exploring the offices at Turama House including marvelling at the model aeroplane collections in the office of managing director Robert Skews – the youngsters were well primed for a fun filled educational day.
With support from local companies and organisations, the tour also includes visiting the Air Rarotonga hangar with children allowed to clamber into one of the aeroplanes and even sit in the pilot’s seat.
Both boys and girls donned hardhats to visit the Rescue Fire Service and experienced the rush of using the fire hoses before buckling in for an escorted ride along Rarotonga’s airport runway.
Pacific Resort Rarotonga opened its doors to the children making them feel like they were on a real vacation and even showing them how to professionally make up a bed.
A picnic and ice cream at Social Centre in Nikao ended the tour for the children with working parents thrilled to see their children buzzing after a new experience on the Turama Pacific Kids Holiday programme.
Tours are scheduled for this Friday and next week and parents wanting to register their children on this fun filled and educational programme can contact the team at Turama Pacific Travel Group on 22026.-
