New teacher applications

Thursday September 27, 2018 Written by Published in Education

A number of contracts between staff and the Ministry of Education are due to finish at the end of the school year, creating a volume of vacancies for teachers, principals and education specialists in Rarotonga and the Pa Enua.

Vacancies have closed, and head of ministry of education Danielle Tungane Cochrane says they are currently in the process of shortlisting and interviewing for all positions advertised.

“Recruitment of this size does take a while.”

She says the most difficult vacancies to fill are the Pa Enua.

Most overseas applicants come from New Zealand because of the links with NZQA and subsequently with NCEA qualifications for secondary schools.

The first round of applications closed on September 1 for positions starting in January 2019.
