A busy schedule at St Joseph’s School meant that pupils celebrated Literacy Week after the rest of the schools in the Cook Islands.

It meant that the students got together yesterday to finish their learning, celebrating their favourite characters by showcasing their wonderful costume skills.

A parade on the school’s oval gave the youngsters an opportunity to show off their literary characters before the teachers highlighted their unique costumes.

Each class then treated parents and community members to some impressive dance moves before returning to class for the rest of the school day.

Schools throughout the Cook Islands celebrated Literacy Week over the past fortnight with a number of projects and units designed to encourage reading and writing at both primary and secondary levels.
