The theme for Term 3 is biodiversity and students across the school are undertaking a variety of exercises and units involving the topic. As part of the studies, students will learn about the Cook Islands’ environment and the ways it impacts on their daily lives.
Historic Blackrock is a popular spot at this time of the year – and not just for school visits. At this time of the year it’s a prime spot to watch humpback whales passing by, while climbing the basalt rock or lounging in the water in front of it, is an irresistible lure for both locals and visitors.
A well designed sign at the site also explains the historic significance of the area.
