The theme for the concert was “Opening New Horizons for Spreading Joy”, and each year level was asked to put together a performance based on it.
Performances included dance, song, skits and even some re-enactments.
Principal Delaney Yaqona said the students had been practicing for the big night since week 2 of this term.
“Each year group worked tirelessly for an hour a week putting their performances together. It was also great this year to see input from the community.”
Performances included significant moments in the lives of Saint Peter Chanel/Bishop John Rodgers/Father Bernadine Castanie/Blessed Edmund Rice. Also featured were youth issues, the importance of never giving up hope (using the example of David confronting Goliath) and youth and the need to listen to God, illustrated by Mary’s humble act of service. A dance portrayed the joy Mary brought the world by obeying God’s will.
Yaqona said it was pleasing to see a “full house” of spectators at St Joseph’s Hall and thanked the community for taking the time to celebrate the occasion with the school students.
