The new school year got underway at Apii Arorangi with a blessing for pupils at the local church on the first morning of the new term.

Principal Mairi Heather said staff, pupils and even parents were excited about the start of the new year.

“We have been very busy receiving new enrolments today as well as welcoming our returning students,” she said.

“To open up our new year, we had a church service in the Arorangi CICC to bless our school before we start our journey through another year of trials, tribulations and small successes. Papa Orometua Soatini’s firm message (akoanga) to us was to be vigilant with our planning, have faith in each other and always let God lead us.”

She said the school aimed to provide the students with “balanced learning, which will prepare them for the next phase of their young lives”.
