Recycling has become much easier for students at Apii Nikao now that they have received their new recycle centre.

Apii Nikao is the last school on the island to be gifted one of the colourful recycling stations by CITC as part of the company’s plastic bag environmental fund projects.

Schools on Rarotonga which have now received recycling stations include Emanuel Akatemia, Titikaveka College, Avarua School, Papaaroa School, Arorangi School, Nukutere College, St Joseph School, Te Uki Ou School, Takitumu School, Rutaki School, Tereora College and Apii Nikao.

The project was started in 2014 and although Apii Nikao was the second school to be pulled out of the hat to receive one of the stations, they asked that another school be given that honour as they did not yet have their new school building

George George and Anthony Doel of CITC presented the new recycling station to the school on Wednesday of last week.

“These stations have been well received by both the teachers and the children,” said George. “We hope they help to instil a sense of pride in their schools and at home for many years to come.”
