She was also awarded the outstanding academic achievement award for being the top student at the end of the three years of the degree level course.
Tiraa spent the last semester at the Policy and Planning Division within the Biodiversity and Coastal Department of Auckland City Council for her work placement.
There she learned a great deal about sustainable tourism in some of Aucklands Conservation areas including the Puhunui Reserve and Tiritiri Matangi Island. Tiritiri Matangi is being revegetated and repopulated with birds, following the eradication of invasive mammals such as rats.
Tiraa has now returned to Rarotonga and has already started working at Cook Islands Tourism Corporation as their marketing coordinator.
