Rarotonga received an influx of tourists from the luxury cruise ship MA Amsterdam yesterday.

The 237 metre cruise ship, worth US$400 million is owned and operated by Holland America Line, named for the northern Holland city of Amsterdam.

And its passengers were welcomed by beautiful warm weather during their day stop on Rarotonga, where they were able to enjoy the sights of the island. The Amsterdam features a multi-million dollar art collection which includes a three story tall fully functional astrolabe in the main atrium which took over 15 years to design. During the summer, Amsterdam sails around Alaska, during the winter; she makes grand voyages around Asia, Australia New Zealand and the South Pacific. On this voyage the Amsterdam travelled to Rarotonga from Alofi in Niue and left for Bora Bora in French Polynesia yesterday afternoon.
