The anticipated national Te Mire ‘Ura senior cultural dance competition starts at 7pm tomorrow evening, Thursday May 9 at the National Auditorium.

 

This event is taken extremely seriously by the participants, countless hours and effort goes into the production of the dance routines, costumes, music and rehearsals.

Held every year, this fantastic event wraps up the Ministry of Cultural Development’s national individual dance contest, the Juniors and Intermediate categories were held on Thursday last week with the Golden Oldies taking place last Friday night.

The contest is open to people 17 years and over, performing on the night are: Hannahlei McBride, Janice Moekapiti, Enua Heather, Samuel Nga, Edward Nga, Tamaiva Mateariki, Ambushia Mateariki, Pativai Ngatuakana, Martha Strickland and Lucas Kamana.

Judges for the evening are: Noo Ngametua, Paraia Vainerere, Minar Henderson, Enua Peyroux, Peka George, Larry Tumai and Henriana Savage.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for children.
