Culture secretary Anthony Turua and Prime Foods general manager Dan Forsyth were both very pleased to be putting pen to paper yesterday to bring Prime Foods onboard as a first-time sponsor of the annual Te Maeva Nui celebrations.

The Avarua food store has signed up as a silver-tier sponsor, donating between $7000 and $14,000 towards the cost of the event, and is also providing other sponsorships for the performing groups as well.

“We’ve done it with the help of some of our suppliers, who helped us come onboard,” explained Forsyth.

“For us it’s always about giving back, and we try and give as much as we can for our local community, but with the outer islands coming in, we thought it was time we try and hit up some of our suppliers.”

Acknowledging that “food is a priority” with so many of the pa enua on Rarotonga right now, Turua thanked Prime Foods very much for their support.

“I look forward to keeping our partnership and support for our cultural events going throughout the year,” he added.
