Trustees sought for Historic Places Trust
Institution House was built under the supervision of the Reverend Aaron Buzacott and completed in 1843 with an official opened in a brief ceremony. Included within Institution House was a surgery and a large lecture room for the service of the students. There was also a separate school-room where Mrs Buzacott gave special instruction to the daughters of the various Ariki and other important families within the district, including dress-making and other home-style skills. Mrs Buzacott also gave instruction on deportment. Source: “Mission Life in the Pacific Islands”, Edited by Rev. J.P. Sunderland and Rev. A.
