Three female visitors sustained injuries after jumping off the back of a truck they had hitched a ride on last Sunday.

Charges of careless driving causing bodily injury and driving with excess breath alcohol resulted in 21-year-old Norma Tairi being convicted and sentenced to 12 months’ probation when she appeared before Justice Dame Judith Potter in the High Court last week.

Water pipe costs user $500

A Ngatangiia resident who pleaded guilty to charges of possessing Class C drug and a utensil for drug use, was fined $500 plus $30 court costs when she appeared in the High Court before Justice Dame Judith Potter on Friday, June 22.

A man sentenced to 12 months’ probation for fraudulently using someone else’s cheque for $950, apologised for the offence, but said it had given him ‘the best Christmas ever’.
