On July 11, at 3.15am police received a complaint against Greig alleging him to be drunk and disorderly opposite the Empire Cinema. Police approached the accused who was swearing in public, and when they tried to approach him he got abusive, swore at police and resisted arrest.
Police prosecutor senior sergeant Tuaine Manavaroa said Greig was handcuffed and taken to the police station, where he refused to make any statement.
He was charged for obscene language in a public place, resisting police and drunkenness.
JP Temata said the penalty for resisting police is a $2000 fine or three months imprisonment.
Sergeant Manavaroa said the defendant is unemployed but requested a monetary fine be imposed. This was his first appearance in Court.
