The suspects who allegedly entered the TEM Store in Muri this week and stole two cans of alcohol are being held in custody at the Arorangi Prison until a court date is confirmed.

One of the men had entered the shop and took the cans of alcohol while the other waited on a motorbike.

Police received a call on Wednesday at 5.34pm about the robbery.

One of the men was apprehended that same night while the second man was arrested yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Trevor Pitt said that until prosecution organises a court hearing, the two men will remain in custody.

He said swift police investigations and witness information led to the identification of both suspects.

Police recently revealed that figures gathered on unlawful incidents are projecting lower outcomes for 2020 but there are concerns over some criminal activity, such as break-ins and domestic disturbances.
