Terupe Terupe has been advised to seek legal assistance to help him with his case.

Terupe faces a charge of wilful damage and threatening to kill. He is also awaiting a medical assessment on his mental health.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Fairoa Tararo requested Justice of the Peace Bernice Manarangi if the court could assist the accused in getting legal aid assistance.

The accused has not had any legal representative since the matter was brought to court.

Terupe has been in custody for over two months and has not entered any plea.

In another custody matter, Metua John has been further remanded as his parents are not ready to take him in yet.

Lawyer Wilkie Rasmussen said his client was held in custody due to a wounding with intent charge.

He also requested the court for another psychiatric assessment for John.

“The last time bail was requested, it was denied because he is a risky offender. His parents are not ready to receive him yet and I won’t apply for bail,” Rasmussen said.

JP Manarangi ordered for a medical assessment and adjourned the matter to June 25.
