A case involving the theft of 400 pineapple shoots in Aitutaki has the community outraged.

And Aitutaki resident Taa Maao has taken to social media to express her anguish at whoever stole the thriving shoots from her family’s orchard.

Maao said the theft had been reported to police but she was also doing her own investigations.

“You can’t hide on this small island. But to those out there who might know who did this please let me know.

“Why can’t some people just find a life and work hard instead of replying on others to make life easy for them?”

CI News understands Air Rarotonga managing director Ewan Smith had offered the person who found the culprit a return flight to Rarotonga however the newspaper could not get confirmation from Smith before going to print.
