Police officers will be undergoing intense firearms training at the Police Firing Range in Nikao today.

Spokesperson Trevor Pitt said the training is with the French Defence personnel from Tahiti and this is the third session to be held with the team who will be engaged in the next couple of days.

This is expected to end next week Wednesday.

Police are calling on the public not to be alarmed at the noise of the gunfire that may be heard throughout the area.

The training will be conducted during the day and night and immediate neighbours have been advised.

A similar training was held around May.
