The picturesque and highly regarded hotel was awarded the Destination Wedding Planner of the year award at this year’s Cook Islands Tourism Awards. It’s the first wedding award for the hotel since it opened its doors in 2006.
The hotel is situated on a beautiful stretch of beachfront at beautiful Muri Lagoon and Wedding and Events manager Claire Wilson says winning the award shows the endless effort and commitment shown by the friendly staff has certainly paid off.
“We have worked really hard to maintain a family atmosphere for all our guests and to ensure everyone is part of our team.
“We were not competing or aiming for the award while delivering our services, but winning it feels so amazing. It shows that we really are doing something special.
While it’s not easy organising a wedding Wilson said what’s important is how you plan carefully to create the best environment for that all-important day.
For Wilson, the key to it all is setting up clear communication between herself and the bridal couples.
“The idea is for everyone to be on the same page from the beginning of the plan till the couple’s wedding day.
“We attract couples with the products that we offer and we do everything possible to make them feel comfortable, knowing their wedding plans are in good hands.
“In the case of people living overseas who want to hold their wedding here, I usually have a face-to-face conversation online with the couple and come up with a wedding plan that will best suit them. This also allows couples to learn more about us as the organisers and about the hotel itself, which makes everything easier..
With the hotel hosting an increasing number of weddings, they have set up a wedding blog site to help couples with enquiries.
The blog features reviews and testimonials from couples in which they discuss their wedding experience and why they chose Muri Beach Hotel as the venue for their wedding.
“We are very lucky to have a number of locations for the reception,” says Wilson.
“We have a beachfront marquee where couples and their guests can have their feet on the sand. They can spread out to the beachfront and have a great time.
“We also have a lagoon lounge which is upstairs overlooking our swimming pool and a reception area with its own restaurants. This is the largest space and can hold up to a 120 guests. It has its own stage and dance floor and there is room for buffet and even a photo booth.
Couples wanting an even more private wedding can choose to have it on a nearby motu, Wilson says.
“And we even have the ability to host a traditional island show outside by the restaurant where the newly-weds and their guests can have fun and enjoy the very best of what Muri Beach Club Hotel is all about.”
