Paintball Kukis is a family owned and operated venture that quickly became a hit in March 2015 when it was launched by Aroa residents, Danny and Ngatono Raina.
The pair say their inspiration for the paintball business derived from having a strong passion for the craft.
“Paintball is not just a sport, but is also a game that has been in our family for many years.” says Ngatono Raina.
Since Paintball Kuki’s inception they have watched the adventuresome and entertaining game become more and more popular every day. There are plenty of opportunities for future development, but Raina says they are sticking to their main focus for now, which is to share their passion for paintball with visiting tourists and local resident Cook Islanders before branching out further.
Nevertheless, the young entrepreneurs say that with unlimited opportunities now in their sights, several future goals are in the pipeline, starting with forming a Paintball KUKI’s team and entering worldwide tournaments, as well as creating offsite games for hire and to open a paintball shop on Rarotonga.
Raina says their motivation comes from their natural passion for what they do and for their genuine passion for the craft, coupled with their desire to be their own bosses and to make the business financially stable enough to support their family and children.
What originally started out to just being a hobby has turned out to be a profitable and fun family business that Danny and Ngatono are determined will continue to be a part of the Rarotonga community for many years to come.
