His family lived in an apartment above a bar that catered for the American soldiers, and played English songs.
Infornon couldn’t afford a guitar, so would turn up to his gospel church band sessions early, and practice the church guitar, learning from other musicians. “I would go in early, before the others, so I would have more time to play the guitar.”
Today he owns five guitars. “I love music, it makes me happy.”
Infornon is part of a line-up of local musicians playing right through the afternoon and into the evening at the annual OkotopaFest craft beer festival at LBV in Muri today.
Infornon is the lead guitarist of the band 3U, playing alongside singer and rhythm player Melden Felismino, bassist JZ and drummer Puati, They’re on from 7 to 9pm at OkotopaFest tonight.
Earlier in the afternoon, musician and singer/songwriter Kahiki Tehaamatai plays with the band Into the Dojo, with Maurice Newport on drums and Mii Taokia on bass guitar. They are on from 4 to 5pm, playing what they call Roots-Rock-Reggae music.
LBV restaurant has hosted the event for five years, rain or shine.
Local musicians will provide entertainment from 1pm. Other music acts include Koka Strings, Snake Revolver, Boogie Man, 1 Inch Funk and DJ GG.
Craft beers including local Cooks larger, the Hallertau Pale Ale, Hallertau Schwarzbier, Hallertau Apple cider, Cherry Kriek and Lemon curd sour ale. Harwood wines will be available.
