Fast flashy cars, daring actions and ponderous dialogues: all these are typical of a movie starring Vin Diesel.

In both The Fast and the Furious series and The Chronical of Riddick trilogy, the chiseled Diesel and his husky voice have never failed his fans.

However, his keen followers might be a bit apprehensive about his latest flick, “The Last Witch Hunter.”

In this movie Diesel plays valiant warrior named Kaulder, who while slaying the all-powerful Queen Witch centuries ago, is cursed with immortality.

Sounds a bit strange, doesn’t it? I thought immortality would be a blessing but for Kaulder, it’s not. He lives for centuries but is never able to really live a life.

Fast forward to present day, Kaulder is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches. Meanwhile, he continues to yearn for his long-lost loved ones. But just when he thinks everything is running smoothly, disaster strikes.

The Queen Witch is resurrected and is bent on vengeance. Kaulder is all that stands between humanity and the combined forces of the most horrifying witches in history.

The Last Witch Hunter is an action-fantasy film involving supernatural powers, and is mostly based in New York City.

The movie is neatly laid out by director Breck Eisner, who rolls out the opening shot in exquisite fashion, introducing the main character and chronicling the event that becomes the soul of the movie.

There isn’t anything extraordinary about Diesel’s performance. As always, he remains the cool, calm and collected hero who is basically afraid of nothing. His confidence on the screen convinces you that he is simply invincible.

There is a flashy car in this movie this time Diesel doesn’t get to flaunt his race driver abilities. There are loaded guns, and he does blow off a head or two. And be warned, there are some heavy dialogues that may send chills down your spine.

Rose Leslie as the dream walker witch and Michael Caine and Elijah Wood as the 36th and 37th Dolan, respectively, also play pivotal roles in this movie.

All in all, The Last Witch Hunter may not be a very good movie but it isn’t a bad one either. It’s something different for Diesel fans and worth checking out. And there might even be a sequel on the way.

Enjoy the hunt and happy Halloween!
