The ‘religion’ of evolution

EVOLUTION is actually a religion.

The Funk & Wagnall dictionary defines “religion” as “a set of beliefs concerned with explaining the origins and purposes of the universe.”

That sums up the religion of evolution. It even has its own religious language: “We believe, perhaps, maybe, probably, could’ve, possibly.”

The founding father of that faith or religion is Charles Darwin. The “god” of that religion of evolution is nature, often referred to by the faithful or blind followers as “Mother Earth.”

That leaves the poor school children not knowing that they are already committing a sin of idolatry, acknowledging and worshipping the created Mother Earth than the Creator of nature. Listen to how they give praise to her:

She is responsible for everything we can see in creation. What’s more? Mother Nature is deaf, blind and mute. She doesn’t hear anything, she doesn’t see anything, and most importantly – she doesn’t say anything.

Mother Nature doesn’t have any moral dictates. That is why evolution is so appealing. This is called idolatry, and is a transgression of the first of the 10 Commandments. Evolution doesn’t disprove the existence of God, but simply reveals that those who believe it are truly capable of faith in the invisible.

All it takes to believe is a leap of faith. Like little children, evolutionists believe without the need of a shred of evidence. They confirm Napoleon’s observation, “Man will believe anything, as long as it’s not in the Bible.”

Let us look at the word, “fact.” According to the dictionary, it is “something that actually exists or has occurred.”

Now, look at the word “evolution.” Again according to the dictionary, this is “the theory that all forms of life originated by descent from earlier forms.”

Note the word “theory.” Let us now look at the word “creation.” Defined as “God’s bringing of the universe into existence.” (re-read the definition of “fact”).

According to the dictionary, evolution is merely a theory, while creation is a fact. Perhaps some are convinced that the Bible is supernatural, and perhaps they have seen that evolution is an unproven, unscientific theory. It is merely a belief.

Perhaps some think that believing in God is but only a matter of faith. Not always so! When we look at a building, how do I know that there was a builder? I can’t see the builder, hear him, touch, taste or smell him?

Of course, the building is proof that there was a builder. Systematic theology calls it “first cause, prime mover, first designer.”

In fact, I couldn’t want better evidence that there was a builder than to have the building right in front of me, as the tree, sun, moon and mountains are.

I don’t need faith to know that there was a builder, a designer, a master architect. All I need is to open my eyes to see and behold the object, and a brain that works to articulate, assess, analyse, calculate, evaluate, learn and understand.

Again, a painting is proof positive that there was a painter. I don’t need any faith to believe in the painter because I see the proof and clear evidence of a fact that’s right there. The same principle applies with the existence of God. When we look at creation, how can we know that there was a Creator? I can’t see Him, hear Him except the howling wind and echoes in the forest, neither touch Him, taste Him, or smell Him. So how can we know that He exists?

Why? Because creation shows me that there is a creator, master designer, first cause, prime mover and chief architect of the whole universe? Except that He is way too big and too much for my tiny human finite mind to all at once and altogether perceive, comprehend and understand the excellence and magnificence of His creation ability.

I couldn’t want better proof that a Creator exists than to have the fact of creation in front of me. We don’t need faith to believe in a Creator; all we need are eyes that can see and a brain that works.

“For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they (the people) are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).

Even the disciples doubted their resurrected Master and Lord Jesus Christ, though some literally saw the evidence of His resurrected body 40 days after it had been dead and buried for three days. Yet, Jesus told doubting Thomas in John 21: 24 – 31, “Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

This is what faith is all about. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11: 1). If, however, we want any builder to do something for us, build us a home, we can and must believe or need to have faith in that builder to even allow him to build us a house. The same applies to God: “Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11: 6).

Sir Isaac Newton once said, “This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets could only proceed from the counsel and domination of an intelligent and powerful Being.”

Louis Pasteur said, “the more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.” Evolutionist Stephen Hawking wrote, “It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way, except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us” (A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes).

He also stated: “Then we shall…be able to take part in the discussion of the question of why it is that we and the universe exist. If we find the answer to that, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason – for then we would know the mind of God.”

Many humans on earth have already and still do know the mind of God, but out of greed, ignorance and ego, try to put themselves in the place of God, deny Him and try to grab the glory to and for themselves.

That is, indeed, a very dangerous thing to do as King Nebuchadnezzar of ancient Babylon found, as recorded in the Book of Daniel 4: 30 – 33: “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?...The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds claws.”

Many people love to read and study the Bible but not the author of the Bible whose name is the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Search the scriptures: for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify on Me” (Mathew 5: 39). Many believe and worship God but fail to understand that God revealed Himself in flesh, ‘Immanuel, meaning God With Us’ and in the Lord Jesus Christ” (Isaiah 7: 14; John 14: 6 & 9). Many believe that God created the heavens and the earth but fail to see and know who truly that Creator is, none other but the Logos of God, “the author and finisher of our faith,” the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1 – 4; Hebrews 12: 2).

Many believe in the One God of the Bible, but not in the full revelation of that One God in Jesus Christ. “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory…For in Him dwelleth all of the fullness of the Godhead bodily…And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power”, and Who best fit that profile but the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 3: 16; Colossians 2: 9 & 10).

Act upon and obey Acts 2: 38 & 39 to allow the Spirit of Truth, which is the Spirit of Christ to lead us into all truth.

God save and bless the Cook Islands, the whole world and all of mankind.
