Fifty members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from the Cook Islands travelled to the United States recently as part of a group excursion to attend the church’s “semi-annual” Conference, held in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The conference is held every six months and Cook Island members have been preparing for the privilege of attending since early this year, saving and fundraising. The conference is held over two days at The Conference Centre in the heart of Salt Lake City.

The large centre seats 21,000 people and seats are always full to capacity for all six sessions. Cook Islands members were able to attend at least two of the sessions and thoroughly enjoyed the spiritual experience.

“Just being in the conference centre, is magical” said Lindsay Graham.

Teua Purua: “The conference was so awesome and we got to witness and sustain three new apostles to the quorum of the 12.”

Most of the group have arrived back on the island, with a couple of families returning within the next two weeks.
